The owners and staff at Vindoux aim to reduce, reuse and recycle where they can; organic waste is fed to the chickens or composted for their vegetable gardens.
Environmentally friendly products are used wherever possible for cleaning, on the farm and for guest amenities. Vindoux is the home of handmade, natural, additive, paraben and cruelty-free Fynbos Therapy products. You can also enjoy the hospitality range in your room, and purchase gifts from reception and the spa.
Guests can expect delicious homemade dishes made using quality, locally sourced produce. They currently purchase all their vegetables from a local community garden which is a Dream Tulbagh initiative that supports local communities. They have also started incorporating permaculture principles on the farm with the aim of producing sufficient organic vegetables and eggs to cater for guests and staff.
Vindoux makes an effort to save water where possible; developing their grey water system to use on the farm and game camp is one of their main priorities.
To save energy they are gradually and systematically upgrading to more efficient systems like replacing light bulbs with LED, and broken geysers with solar geysers. There are also energy wise geyser controls in all guest accommodation units.
The General Manager at Vindoux is formally trained in conservation; therefore the environmental impact is always considered in any of their projects. They are also committed to land rehabilitation and are actively removing alien plant species from their land.
