Rhino Walking Safaris is situated in the heart of a 12,000 hectare private concession within Kruger National Park; only a stone’s throw from Skukuza.
With a maximum of 8 people, guests are ensured a high quality, exceptional experience; discovering the hidden treasures of the African wilderness on our tailored walking trails from our luxury tented accommodation at Plains Camp.
Two highly qualified guides will accompany and safeguard you while imparting a wealth of knowledge about the bush, its animals, insects, vegetation, folklore, tracking and survival skills.
A typical day at Plains Camp starts with a mug of steaming coffee and traditional homemade rusks, after which guests set off for their morning walking safari, following the paths of rhino and elephant. Returning to camp, enjoy a scrumptious brunch and relax in the cool of the acacia trees, overlooking the waterhole and its frequent visitors. After high tea the afternoon walking safari or game drive gets underway. Evenings are welcomed with sundowners and South African cuisine is enjoyed at the communal lounge and dining area with an outside fireplace.

Rhino Post & Rhino Walking Safaris combine efforts with an array of partners to benefit the environment and the local communities.
In keeping with their motto “tread gently”, the lodges have been constructed in the most environmentally-friendly manner possible, utilising natural materials, and minimising the use of concrete. Being sensitive to the environment, they have applied numerous methods to further minimise their impact.
All waste is sorted; glass, metal and paper are recycled.
They generate their own power, and switch generators off overnight to reduce emissions.
Borehole water consumption is strictly monitored. Grey water is filtered through a natural reed bed system and tested for quality before being released back into the environment.
Rhino Walking Safaris are conscientious about using cruelty-free, natural body products and environmentally-friendly cleaning products; and predominantly use organic ingredients that have been sourced locally in their cuisine.
Extreme care is practiced at all times by guides at Plains Camp/Sleepouts to ensure that animals are not harassed or baited and that all driving takes place on existing park roads and gravel roads.
Rhino Walking Safaris became Fair Trade Tourism certified in June 2017.
