The guesthouse prepares meals made from organic, local and free range ingredients as far as possible; including their own homegrown herbs picked fresh from the garden.
The garden is mostly indigenous fynbos which requires very little irrigation thus saving water. There is a Laundry Policy in place where guest are requested to reuse towels and making use of the heated towel rails instead of having them laundered daily, as this saves both water and energy.
To further reduce energy consumption, energy-saving light bulbs have been installed throughout the property as well as state of the art solar geysers that deliver all hot water to the house during the warm months; saving an estimated 15 584 kW/hr per annum.
Mariner Guesthouse used the principals of eco architecture to create this environmentally friendly, north-facing establishment.
