♡ Local & Organic
♡ Responsible Body Products
♡ Water Wise Practices
♡ Sustainable Energy Acumen
♡ Community Upliftment
For many years now Farr Out has adopted the “reduce, reuse, recycle” philosophy as a way of life. Everyday things like using fabric shopping bags, returning and reusing egg cartons are the norm. All paper, plastic, tin and glass are separated for recycling and organic waste is composted. Farr Out also makes and sells “Bird Pubs” bird-feeders which are upcycled out of empty tomato sauce bottles.
Farr Out has done away with the small bottles (increased plastic) associated with guest amenities by opting for larger dispensers for the sake of the environment. They fill these dispensers filled with products from Gilchrist & Soames who are committed to responsible luxury. These body products are developed in an environmentally-friendly way and are never tested on animals.
Rest assured your breakfast will have free range eggs and fresh farm cheese among other delicious ingredients as Farr Out does their best to keep things local and organic as far as possible.
Farr Out is cleaned using an eco-friendly, biodegradable cleaning product, Alleskoenner.
In order to conserve the scarce water resources Farr Out has dual flush water systems on their toilets and there are only showers in guestrooms. The garden is mainly indigenous and therefore does not demand much watering, rain is harvested and stored for the gardens benefit during dry spells.
In order to reduce energy consumption Farr Out has installed solar geysers, upgraded all lighting to energy efficient LED technology and connected timers to the lights. An irrigation system also curb unnecessary energy usage. All laundry is dried by the African sun and West Coast winds.
Farr Out supports community upliftment through their contributions to Paternoster Peoples Partnership, a local non-profit whose mission it is to further develop and empower the entire community, continuously establishing new goalposts and ideals to ultimately uplift the community out of poverty. Even closer to home, Marion and Deon like to make a difference by teaching their staff new skill sets for the employee`s personal benefit e.g. they taught Carmen Booysen how to crochet and helped her build a plan to sell her goods and earn an entrepreneurial income.
As members of the Cape West Coast Biosphere, Farr Out supports their Biodiversity Projects, the West Coast Region and the maintenance of an ecological balance for future sustainability for all.
