ECO-FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION ST FRANCIS BAY
The 7 luxurious suites at Dune Ridge have all been individually designed and decorated; each carrying its own distinctive atmosphere. All rates include a welcome drink, luxury accommodation, daily breakfast and complementary Wifi in the public areas.
The 4 Garden Suites are attached to the main house with easy and convenient access to all the country house’s facilities. These rooms are classic and cosy; adorned with dark hued furniture, four poster beds and rich fabrics. The large bathrooms boast ball and claw baths, showers, marble topped counters, windows that overlook the gardens and separate toilets. Each rooms leads onto a private patio with loungers.
The 2 Garden Cottages are privately set along the winding fairy-tale paths of Dune Ridge’s indigenous country gardens. Each cottage boasts a gorgeous en-suite bathroom with a classic ball and claw bath, shower and separate toilet. The garden patio has a table and chairs, an ideal place to relax and enjoy the passing birds and butterflies.
The Family Cottage has 2 spacious bedrooms and an extra-large bathroom with twin basins, shower, ball and claw bath and separate toilet. The expansive lounge has a fireplace and leads to a garden patio with table and chairs for quiet outdoor dining.
The suites are superbly equipped with all the modern conveniences one would expect from a 4 star establishment including a hairdryer, bath robes, slippers, hair & body products, a safe, international adapters, umbrellas, fully stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fans, television and DVD machines. There are several beautiful seating areas around the Dune Ride Country House where guests can relax and enjoy delicious country fare. Breakfasts, light lunches, afternoon tea and dinner menus are created utilizing fresh ingredients, many of which will come straight out of Dune Ridge’s own vegetable garden.
The Bush Spa is discreetly tucked away on the ridge of the dunes, amidst the coastal fynbos. Guests can choose from variety of relaxation treatments to rejuvenate, replenish and regain inner peace.
Frogging Safaris are tremendous fun and put the plight of, the often overlooked, amphibians in the spotlight. Armed with gum boots, head lights and a knowledgeable frogging enthusiast, guests get to explore local frog hot spots, mucking about in mud to catch, bag, identify and carefully release these little hoppers.
St Francis Bay and the surrounding offers unspoiled beaches, a rugged coastline, a river linked to a unique canal system, unconquerable moving sand dunes, natural coastal forests and nature reserves with numerous footpaths through unique fynbos species – a delight for visitors from around the world.

Dune Ridge Country House and its staff are extremely conservation-conscious and do their utmost to ensure that the footprint of the guesthouse is minimised, and practice Fair Trade Principles to the best of their ability.
With a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle; all waste is separated and recycled at Dune Ridge; and wet matter goes into their vermicomposter for the production of organic fertilizer which nourishes the garden. Even the house was built utilising local, recycled and upcycled materials e.g. the reed patio ceilings, stone fireplace and walls, beautiful oregan pine flooring and fixtures that still bear the mark of well-worn floors from an old school.
Guests are provided with complimentary cruelty-free body products.
All ingredients used to prepare the delicious meals served at Dune Ridge come from their own gardens or are sourced locally.
In an effort to conserve water, Dune Ridge Country Lodge has 5 rain tanks that store harvested rain water which is used in the gardens. They also use grey water from the sinks in the garden and only water in the evening to avoid evaporation.
To lower their energy demand, Dune Ridge uses energy saving light bulbs which are being systematically upgraded to LED lighting. Timers have also been installed on the geysers.
With a passion for their natural environment, Dune Ridge Country House embarked on alien eradication projects and have regenerated a wetland; this is evident by the presence of frogs. Due to their permeable skin, Frogs are great bio-indicators and provide a clear insight on the state of the environment.
The owner of Dune Ridge Country House believes in investing in and development of staff. She has arranged training and paid for short courses of interest to her employees.
