The Green Faire offers an exciting platform where you can find out what eco-friendly goods, products and services are available out there, eat yummy healthy food, and have the whole family entertained and leave inspired.
This year, Envirochild’s 9th annual eco-expo is extending its message further afield – and shifting from its regular Saturday slot to a more inclusive, Sunday, to better accommodate those coming from a distance.
Affordable and accessible, the Green Faire brings together different communities from across the city with a common interest in making greener lifestyle choices.
With over 70 traders selling everything from handy green gadgets to grey water systems and renewable energy system suppliers – including upcycled clothing, organic goodies and seedlings, the Faire offers something for everyone.
The ecofriendly technologies and services on offer can reduce your food, water and electricity costs, save the planet’s resources and minimising waste. Experts in the field will also lead talks and demonstrations on a range of related topics that will inspire and enhance your way of life.
Most of all, the Green Faire is about empowering and inspiring children to be Planet Warriors – Leaders of Change.
A key feature is the Planet Warrior Children’s Festival, an ongoing project which sees interested children from local primary schools participate in workshops throughout the year. At the faire, they showcase what they have learnt in the Recycle Market and Eco-Fashion Show, followed by a fun, Musical Talent Contest.
Another highlight is the Feed Your Head programme, featuring enlightening talks and demonstrations by passionate, well-informed speakers covering topics like: Biomimicry, Water Rhapsody, the myriad benefits of Hemp, Medical Marijuana, Community Gardens, Making Jewellery from Circuit Boards, and more.
The talks and demos are followed by informative documentary screenings.
No festival is complete without Live Music, and the stage will be set for ambient grooves and funky tunes. Details of our headline act to follow.
Did you know? This unique green expo is fully powered by Solar and Wind energy, and is a zero waste event. Free filtered water aims to raise awareness of the unnecessary impact of plastic bottles on our environment, while Compost, Recycle and Landfill bins on site encourage and inform how visitors can best separate their waste.
Make a day of it! Bring friends and family (adults R20 ; children R10) and spend a great day in the beautiful Hout Bay surroundings on the Kronendal Primary field.
