ONE LIFE, LIVE RESPONSIBLY ONE PLANET, LIVE SUSTAINABLY

The Klein Karoo is home to 2000 plant species of which 250 are endemic (i.e. they do not occur anywhere else). It hosts three global biodiversity hot spots namely Fynbos, Succulent Karoo and Subtropical Thicket which have given the area international attention. The picturesque town of De Rust lends itself to the conservation of these biomes, as they are represented on the De Rust Koppie, situated adjacent to the town.

The festival aims to draw attention to the biodiversity of plant life in the area surrounding De Rust in the Klein Karoo, which is sustained by unique pollinators (birds and insects) and geology.

Activities include: 2015 Festival Programme, Bird watching Field trips (plants, pollinators), Gardening to conserve plants, Geology trip, Star gazing.
